Dear Friends of Happy Valley School,
It has been nearly a decade since we celebrated the Sesquicentennial for Happy Valley School with a series of events that included a golf tournament hosted with Branciforte Fire Department, an alumni picnic at DeLavega Park and the unveiling of the Heroes of Happy Valley at our mutually beloved Happy Valley School. At that first Legacy event, we recognized the achievements and inducted thirteen heroes into our Legacy Redwood Grove. It is now time to recognize four additional worthy citizens. This event has been postponed in recent years due to the pandemic. Now is the time to celebrate their contributions.
On Sunday, April 16, 2023, many parents will be gathering at school in the morning for a Field Clean Up Day. Our goal is to follow the Field Clean Up Day with lunch and then have a ceremony to welcome four new recipients with the designation of “Heroes of Happy Valley”. Although the folks being recognized are no longer walking among us, they will be represented by friends, family and grateful members of the community. We think you will enjoy sharing this celebration with those who cherish the Happy Valley community and the school that bears its name.
When: Sunday April 16, 2023
Where: Happy Valley School, 3125 Branciforte Drive, Santa Cruz, 95065
Field Clean Up 9:30-12
Lunch 12:15 (Provided by the Happy Valley Parent Club)
Heroes Recognition 12:45pm, Leatherman Stage, honoring Elwin Roberts, David Boffman, and Dean and Mary Alys Barnes.
Please join us and celebrate the lives and contributions of your neighbors.
Sincerely,
Michelle Stewart,
Principal/Superintendent
George Purnell,
Retired Board President
